About Us

Clarendon Stud was purchased by Chris and Lucy Thompson in late August 2021.

The Pennine View Stallions that we bred and produced from our foundation stallion Z Concorde in Harrogate Yorkshire all moved down with some homebreds, a small heard of broodmares and of course a Shetland plus his best friend, a very large 18hh dressage horse!

After nearly 20 years in one place it has been a big move and a long way from all our horsey contacts made from eventing for the last 20 years, running British dressage shows for 12 years at Yorkshire Riding Centre and the constant stream of youngstock that Chris backed or educated through whatever issues they needed to learn to cope with modern horsey life like loading, hacking, traffic etc.  Not forgetting our fantastic team of liveries, staff and general friends that helped us cope at Pennine View Stud in our wood stables and wooden lodge/house and survive through many tough Yorkshire winters!

We now have the impressive facilities of indoor brick stables and hotwater wash rooms. Even indoor stocks and special medical vet room beside it for the microscope etc! Our own gallops, a 50m x 30m menage and a full set of Jump for Joy show Jumps!  Not to forget the ever essential horse walker that we couldn’t live without and a lunge pen. To top it all we have good draining soil and fantastic off road hacking via the back gate access or a short road trip to the village.
