  • Competed in British Show Jumping and Eventing
  • Specialises in backing/training horses in a empathetic and natural horsemanship methods that suit that individual horse. Having specialized in behavioural issues and young horses Chris focuses on a horses balance, aid acceptance and confidence and believes them to be fundamental foundations to accepting and carrying a rider. This will include plenty of de sensitization so that when ridden the horses are comfortable and confident with the rider in any situation.

Chris was well known in Yorkshire, especially at Yorkshire Riding Centre, for being a horse whisper when loading horses with his calm confidence giving demeanour that horses trust and like.

Himself trained by some very precise trainers such as Peter De Cosemo and Trish Gardner.

Chris has also supported wife Lucy and Daughter Issie in their journey to international eventing attending more lessons and training sessions with top international riders that they have had than either of them have attended! He has an exceptional eye for detail and an ability to transfer what needs to be done by the rider verbally from the ground. A very unique skill.

Chris ran the British Dressage shows at Yorkshire Riding Centre initially with Lucy and later by himself, when Issie and Lucy where competing, for over ten years. He became a firm favourite with competitors with his ability to accommodate requests, multiple rides, read tests and reassure when things didn’t always go to plan. He has also done preliminary judge training and regularly steps in to judge unaffiliated events when needed, but has it as his retirement plan to fully qualify as a British dressage judge!

Trained/backed many stallions and worked with Lucy to grade 3 stallions very highly with SHB and AES.

Successful at Showing Youngstock with runner up in National 3yo event champion 2011 and many placings at big shows such as Bramham youngstock and Otley

Chris is much appreciated by vets and farriers for making their life with difficult horses to trim or treat far easier with his amazing horsemanship skills, using the balance and trust to get them to cope with the treatment.

Chris has a big love of all animals and great empathy with them, as his mother always collected dogs, ponies and the odd cat! He was the one left to look after them with his parent both workind !! He is a perfectionist and likes calm organization with working horses and leading them (so really not sure how he has ended up working with young horses!!) He is regularly seen with the youngsters calmly behaving with him in multiple leads when we struggle to lead one!

Chris has supported Lucy with building and growing Pennine View Stud in Harrogate, Yorkshire to one of the well known, longest lasting, livery, stud and training centres around with an exceptional reputation. Chris hopes that we can enjoy the fabulous, beautiful and amazing facilities at the Clarendon stud where we relocated to in 2021 with our stallions. He hopes to give them the opportunity to shine as  breeding stallions which was not possible in Harrogate where they where focused on their amazing competition achievements which would not have been possible with out the skilled training eye of Chris behind each of them and the support he gave to driving them up and down the country to make them in to 4* eventers, 1.45 Show jumpers and a 3rd generation young stallion that was 2* at just 6 years old!

Chris has enjoyed many family hacking holidays riding the  Z.Concorde Stallion and a few days hunting on the amazing stallion as a busman’s holiday to running the Pennine View Stud.

He looks forward to supplying the Eventing and competition worlds with some lovely youngstock bred at Clarendon Stud by the PennineView Stallions to enjoy competing and fulfilling their dreams with.
